About Me

There's so much more to my story than I can fit on this page...but here's what you should know for now.

 

I’m Darla Kernell—wife, mom, storyteller, speaker, and encourager. My life has been filled with many unexpected twists and turns, and heartbreaks so profound they are hardly believable. Because God is who He says He is, I've been abundantly blessed, and I have experienced undeniable miracles. Through it all, I’ve learned one unshakable truth: God’s plan is always better.

I’ve been married to my high school sweetheart for 25 years. I’m a mom to four children—one in heaven and three on earth—and they’ve each shaped my faith journey in ways I never expected. Motherhood has stretched me, humbled me, and shown me the power of surrendering to God’s plan.

 

My Mission​

I believe in the power of stories—yours, mine, and the ones God is still writing. Whether through writing, speaking, or simply sitting with someone in the hard moments, my heart is to:

• Encourage women to see God’s hand in their story.

• Create a space where women can connect, grow, and find hope.

• Remind others that even in the messy, painful seasons, God is working miracles.

 

The Hard Seasons & What They Taught Me

• Identity in Christ - Strained and broken relationships can be devastating. I’ve spent much of my life wrapped in titles—mom, wife, employee—only to realize that when those titles shift or fall away, I’m left asking, ‘Who am I, really?’ Learning to see myself not through achievements or roles, but through who He says I am, has been life’s biggest lesson. My identity isn’t in what I do—it’s in who I belong to.

• Marriage & Refinement – 31 years of love, struggle, and God's unwavering grace. Marriage has been one of my greatest teachers—showing me patience, humility, and how to lean on God when my own strength isn’t enough. I don’t have all the answers, but I’m learning to trust God daily to refine me and guide my heart.

• Motherhood & Loss – Raising children while trusting God with the one I had to let go. Motherhood has stretched me in ways I never imagined, bringing both overwhelming joy and deep heartache. Every day is a lesson in grace, letting go, and trusting that God fills in the gaps where I fall short.

• Health Struggles & Waiting on God – Navigating illness and unanswered prayers with faith.

• Surrender & Trust – Learning that His ways are higher, even when I don’t understand.

 

Each of these seasons has shaped me, challenged me, and drawn me closer to God. Through it all, I’ve learned that our hardest moments can become our greatest testimonies.

Fun Facts About Me

• I collect heart-shaped rocks on my morning walks—God’s little love notes to me.

• I started playing the flute in third grade.

• I’ve spent years in Christian radio and event planning, connecting people to powerful messages.

• Family, sunrises, The Word, deep conversations, and spontaneous adventures are my favorite things!
